i have an "05" sporty 1200 custom. it had the vac assist on the fuel valve, i replaced it with an aftermarket valve when the diaphram went bad and havnt had any problems since, till today. i started to take off after getting fuel and all of a sudden it sputtered and died, it kept this up for about nine miles till i finally got it home. i checked plug wires, fuel lines, vac lines, fuel valve, everything seemed ok so i let it sit there while i thought about it, a couple hours later i fired it right up, took off on it and had no problem, anybody have any ideas what would cause this

I use the following rule as well....if ya see the fuel truck dumping into a gas station, do NOT fill up there, unless you're desperate ! Because that influx of liquids into the big tanks will churn up settiments there and then you buy them !!!
possibly something flaked loose and partially plugged the fuel line? Or perhaps the petcock was "between" settings?
